The First Gig

Okay - lots of you on Facebook asked how it went so I figured I just put the one post here instead of trying to write to everyone. It was so much FUN! Everything was digital and HD. It was shot on a green screen so I can be placed in a home setting. It's was really tough standing in this huge room all alone with cameras and lights pointed at me.

They had me say each line several different ways looking straight into the camera. I think the hardest thing was figuring out what to do with my hands! I had all the lines memorized, but I was nervous and at one point, just completely had a brain fart. My mind went blank and I just stopped mid-sentence. It was so weird because I knew it, I just couldn't remember it for a second.

Then it was all over. It only took about 20 minutes for the whole thing. They don't know yet where or when it will air, if at all, but they are going to send me a copy when it's finished so I can add it to my "reel." I'll post it as soon as it comes in so everyone can check it out.

I'm addicted...I want more!!!

My First Gig!

It's happened! I got hired to do my first gig. It's going to happen tomorrow morning and it's an on camera spot for "First Federal Loan Modification." I'm playing a wife/mother talking about how they helped me save my home by working with my bank to modify my mortgage. It's an on-camera gig. YIKES!! I'm so nervous!!

We did it!

For those of you who don't know, my partner and I were married on Saturday, Oct. 18th. It's only taken 10 years, but hey, good things come to those who wait, right?

Demo Recording

Alright, it took me a while to get this one up. But I was waiting for some info. The recording session went great! I had so much fun!! Scott and Dru are so easy to work with, it's like hanging out with friends.

There was also a great guy there who was nice enough to be my doubles partner for one of the comedy double spots. His name is Don Ahles and he is a commercial and television actor as well as the San Diego Branch President of the Screen Actor's Guild.

I'm so glad I didn't know that when he was there! I would have been more nervous. All I knew was he was really good and it made me do a better job. I can't wait to hear it! Thanks so much Don. I love your sense of humor and can tell you are having a blast doing what you do.

Demo CD

Well, today is finally the day. Everyone's been on vacation so I've kind of taken a hiatus from the blog as there was no news to share. I'm back from Maui, Scott's back from Hawaii, Dru's back from Europe and we've all connected again. Two weeks ago I met with Dru to pick out the pieces for my demo CD. Last week we met again to practice them and decide on the sound of each. Today, WE RECORD!!

I also received another disc of session recordings from my class. I'll post the best of those as well.

About My Demos

The demos I'm posting right now are not my professional demos for talent agents. They are from the class I took. The comedy doubles night was recorded and we were all given copies of the class. Keep in mind, these were all one take with only 4 or 5 minutes to prepare. They are not perfect, they were just for practice! But, at least you all can hear what I'm up to.

Scott & Carson

Here's Scott, the audio wonder boy (he made me sound great!) from the studio I took my classes at, with Carson Kressley from "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" when he came in to do some promos for his new show "How to Look Good Naked."

The Journey Begins

Today is the first day of the rest of my life. My first blog, my first post, my first adventure into my new career. I have just completed the voice over training class and am working on putting together the scripts for my demo CD. I am trying to put as much of my own writing on it as I can, but it needs to work for all of the different voices and settings I am trying to create. This may take some time...
